There are so many decisions to be made in publishing a novel. Writing is the easy part, I now know. We are making good progress, though, and we are inching forward to release day. The cover photos have been chosen. It’s fun that pictures I took on a trip to Bridger Peak and Dillon are going to be the front and back cover shots.
The front cover will be one I took from near Bridger Peak looking down over the sweeping canyon that holds Rudefeha, site of the copper mine, then three miles down Dillon townsite, and off into the distance Haggerty Gulch. I love that picture because you can see for at least 100 miles. There aren’t enough names for the hues of blue that sweep out toward the western horizon.
I took the back cover while standing on the road at Rudefeha. The site itself is on private property. Thankfully, the man who owns the property has opened the gate and allows traffic through on the established road. The picture isn’t of Rudefeha, though, it is of the hillside climbing up on the other side of the road. The hillside, at about 10,600 feet in elevation, is covered with wild flowers and rocks. The shot epitomizes the rough beauty of the region.
