No, it can’t be! It can’t be August 8th and I can’t have just a few days left on my island before we leave! No! (Do you hear my foot stamping?)
This has been quite a summer, and we’ve accomplished a lot. A lot of sweating (it is hot here in the summer!). A lot of discovering. A lot of working and a lot of playing. I’ve also done quite a bit of writing. I wanted my first draft of the new novel finished by the time I returned to Wyoming, but that isn’t going to happen. BUT, I have nearly 200 pages of it written, and I feel good about it. I like the main character (her name is Claire), and I like where the story is going.
The most work hasn’t been mine, but Karl’s. He is nearly finished with the new bathroom. When we got here, he had already demo’d most of it, and then we took it down so that there wasn’t even a floor! (See earlier blogs for the gory details of that!) Now, it has a completely new design with new paint, floor and flooring, a new, beautiful shower that it took six days to tile and grout, new sinks and potty. It is wonderful, and almost finished! Yeah!! As if that isn’t enough, we’ve moved a wall and two cabinets downstairs to upgrade and redesign the entryway, and I (successfully) painted the living room! (This is a surprise because I usually suck at painting, but it turned out really well.) Now all I need to do is pay off the credit cards….
